E-business

This course covers the following thematic units: 1. Introduction and historical overview of development of e-business: Study of the sources for e-business as well as an overview of economic, political and organisational infrastructure that helps (or hampers) its development; characteristics of business transactions in e-business; social processes that have enabled the emergence e-business; e-business trends in USA and Europe. 2. Economic characteristics of development of e-business: Development of business model for e-business; integrative and separative model; basic categories of business models – trade, brokerage, promotion and advertising, providing technological solutions and services; business strategies for e-business. 3. Technological environment for e-business: Technical standards: EDI, Internet (FTP, HTML, HTTP, SMTP, TCP-IP); methods of payment in e-business. 4. Social and political environment for e-business: Protection of user rights; protection of buyer rights, legal regulations: electronic signature, authenticity of electronic documents, protection of intellectual property rights, protection of privacy of personal data, charging taxes on products and services.
